“En passant par la Lorraine…”

When time came to select a place for my retirement, I decided to settle in Nancy, a town that I had often visited when my children were studying there. Its rich architecture and cultural life, its beautiful parks, a vibrant atmosphere with more than 50.000 students, were some of Nancy’s assets which attracted me. These last few years, it has been a pleasure for me to welcome friends and family here and guide my guests in their exploration of the city’s artistic treasures.

Recently, as my Scottish friends came to this corner of France to visit me, I prepared a one week-programme to make them discover the two main cities of Lorraine—Nancy and Metz—and some of the natural and cultural gems of the Vosges and Alsace. We were blessed with a warm and sunny weather, which magnified the beauty of the sites we visited. I invite you to follow our journey through this travel diary & photo album, which may inspire you if you feel like visiting the South of the Grand Est area in France.

And in June, I received another British friend for a 4-day stay in Nancy: in addition to visiting Nancy, we went to Metz, where we explored other areas than previously, and Luxembourg. I invite you to follow us in this travel diary, displaying new photos and views of the Grand-Est area:
