The last time I stayed in London was in September 2019, before the pandemic. I had organized a family weekend around the visit of the William Blake exhibition at Tate Britain. Though I travelled to Scotland twice since then, and went last year to Cambridge via London, I did not have the opportunity to stay a few days in England’s capital again.
A few months ago, I was thinking that I needed to see the originals of some paintings and artefacts in two of London’s museums for my present research, when my daughter told me that she would be available this summer for spending a whole weekend with me. Bingo! She agreed to join me for this London trip, and to visit there some places yet unfamiliar to us.
I hope you’ll enjoy looking at the photo-album of our promenades in London, from the “country” borough of Camden to the glamorous boroughs of South Kensington and Chelsea.
Here is a little supplement to the photo album above, showing a few representations of Hampstead Heath in visual arts from the 18th century onward. Enjoy!
